PASTORAL SUPPORT
At HJS, we are committed to providing high-quality pastoral care across the school. Our aim is to support every child so they can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. To achieve this, we also work closely with a range of external professionals.
Our Pastoral Team
Mrs Winters – SENDCo & THRIVE Practitioner
Mrs Gorringe – Parent Support Advisor (PSA)
Mrs Nash – THRIVE Practitioner
How the Pastoral Team Works
We offer different types of support depending on a child’s needs:
One-Off Sessions – A single session with a member of the team.
Pastoral Clubs – Small group sessions that support unstructured playtimes or help with transitions.
Sessions can be individual or group-based and may involve role-play, puppets, board games, arts and crafts, therapeutic play, social stories, or simply time to talk. Each block of sessions is reviewed, and parents are updated on progress.
Five to Thrive
Our staff have received specialist training in the Five to Thrive approach, which now underpins our pastoral care across the school. Printed leaflets are available from the school office.
Getting in Touch
Pupils – Any child can ask to see a member of the pastoral team if they are worried about something at school or at home. A meeting will then be arranged at a suitable time.
Parents/Carers – If you have a pastoral concern, you can:
phone the school office,
speak to your child’s class teacher, or
book an appointment with Mrs Winters through the school office or via the email below.
